Ivan just laughed and didn’t say anything.
Of course he could guess.
Since they could groom a talent like Evan, it meant that the prowess of the reclusive clans could not be belittled.
The martial arts circle was even more boisterous than before because Ethan had allowed public viewing of one page of the manual and allowed many people to attempt understanding the manual.
He was hoping to increase the overall capabilities of the martial arts circle in case they actually had to fight these reclusive clans head on in the future.
And that was because nobody really knew exactly what those reclusive clans were trying to do.
So preparations had to be made.
Ethan had made an accurate guess.
Evan had indeed returned to his family.
He was surprised that he didn’t face any punishment, and Peak actually helped him hide the whole thing about sneaking out of the house and going beyond the mountain.
Doing something like that should have resulted in a punishment of reflecting on his actions for at least a month up to half a year!
But even though Peak was an elder in charge of keeping discipline within the clan, he didn’t tell anybody at all.
Evan wasn’t stupid. The clan was huge, so even though his status within the clan wasn’t ordinary, he was still subject to the clan’s rules.
If he went against the rules, he had to accept the punishment. Nobody would be able to get him out of it.
But Peak, a man who had always been very strict about the rules, didn’t say anything and didn’t allow him to talk about this to anyone else either.
“There’s no why.” There was even a faint smile on Peak’s face. “I can be fair and just, but at the same time, I can make a few concessions to certain people.”
“Evan, I have high hopes for you. Do you understand what I’m trying to say?”
Evan narrowed his eyes and shook his head. “I don’t really understand.”
Even if he did, he didn’t want to say he did.
Even within the reclusive clan, there were various factions that competed fiercely with each other. Peak wasn’t from Evan’s faction, so it was surprising that he didn’t take this chance to put Evan down, and even let him off instead.
Evan really didn’t understand.
“Then I’ll speak a little more clearly,” said Peak. “Daniel was the one who told you that the manual is out there, right?”
Evan’s pupils instantly narrowed.
Daniel reported to Peak?
Did Peak purposely want him to know about this?
“So what if he did?” scoffed Evan.
“I think it’s enough for you to know about this matter. Now that you’re back, there’s no need to tell anybody else. Do you get what I mean?”
Evan immediately grew doubtful inside.
It seemed like his guess was wrong somewhere.
If Peak was the one who purposely allowed Daniel to tell him about this, then what did the last thing he said mean?
Why didn’t Peak want him to tell anybody else?
It seemed like everyone in the Drakes family knew about this matter. Perhaps he was the only one who knew.
“If you listen to me, then I won’t punish you. In fact, if you need to in the future, I could even make some concessions for you.”
The smile on Peak’s face slowly faded and his voice became colder, “But if you tell someone else…”
“Evan, I’m sure you don’t want your chances of becoming the next head of this family to be taken away from you, right?”
This was clearly Peak dangling a carrot in front of him, giving him a slap and making Evan still say that the carrot was sweet and delicious!
The expression on Evan’s face changed slightly. He suddenly felt that the Drakes family was very complicated.
In the past, he wouldn’t have thought so much about it since he only cared about martial arts. But after he took this trip outside, he got to know Ethan and so many other people.
And now, Peak was suddenly friendly and suddenly unfriendly. This made his heart suddenly start pounding loudly…
